Master of Science in Communicative Disorders

The Master of Science degree program in Communicative Disorders has been awarded full accreditation in speech-language pathology by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).  Students who successfully complete the program will meet the academic and clinical requirements for a license from the Mississippi State Board of Health and for the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology that is awarded by ASHA.  All faculty members in the Department hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology and/or Audiology, and license in speech-language pathology and/or audiology awarded by the Mississippi State Board of Health.  The Department operates the Central Mississippi Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic to facilitate the clinical education of students in speech-language pathology, and to provide services to persons with speech, language, cognitive, swallowing and/or hearing disorders in Jackson and the surrounding counties.

Directions to the Department

Take I-55 , and exit at Lakeland Road (Exit 98B).  Go east on Lakeland Road, following the signs to Carthage.  At the intersection of Lakeland Road and Ridgewood Road (there is an Exxon gas station at the intersection), make a left onto Ridgewood Road.  Stay in the left lane as you go up the hill.  Look out on your left for a sign for Education and Research Center, and turn left at that sign.  Next, you will come to a stop sign; make a left turn at that sign.  Within a few yards on your right, you will see the entrance to a parking lot.  Turn right into the parking lot and park anywhere.  The one-storey building in front of you is Universities Center.  Enter the building and come down the hallway.  The Clinic is located about halfway down the hall in Suite 6.  Reserved parking spaces are available close to a ramp for persons with physical disabilities.  Please make sure the physical disability sticker is clearly displayed in the car.
