The Department of Communicative Disorders operates the Central Mississippi Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic, where students under the supervision of certified and licensed speech-language pathologists learn to provide clinical services to persons with speech, language, cognitive, swallowing and hearing disorders. The Clinic provides free clinical services to persons of all ages and from diverse ethnocultural backgrounds. With IRB approval, the Clinic also serves as a site for collaboration among faculty and students to complete various community-based service-learning and research projects. Go east on Lakeland Road, following the signs to Carthage. At the intersection of Lakeland Road and Ridgewood Road (there is an Exxon gas station at the intersection), make a left onto Ridgewood Road. Stay in the left lane as you go up the hill. Look out on your left for a sign for Education and Research Center, and turn left at that sign. Next, you will come to a stop sign; make a left turn at that sign. Within a few yards on your right, you will see the entrance to a parking lot. Turn right into the parking lot and park anywhere. The one-storey building in front of you is Universities Center. Enter the building and come down the hallway. The Clinic is located about halfway down the hall in Suite 6. Reserved parking spaces are available close to a ramp for persons with physical disabilities. Please make sure the physical disability sticker is clearly displayed in the car.
