The Department of Communicative Disorders at Jackson State University offers two specialized programs: Master of Science in Communicative Disorders and Bachelor of Science in Communicative Disorders. The Department operates the Central Mississippi Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic to facilitate the clinical education of students in speech-language pathology, and to provide services to persons across the life span with speech, language, cognitive, swallowing and/or hearing disorders in Jackson and the surrounding counties. In addition, the Central MS Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic serves as a site for research, with recent studies regarding early detection of Alzheimer's Dementia, analysis of singers' and administrators' voices, and developmental speech and language development/disorders in children.
